Over the past few years I've explored found debris/single-use plastics as an art medium, whether it be bird sculptures or mixed media pieces. My favorite part about working with trash as a medium is the unpredictability of how the project will look from start to finish. When collecting trash, I can’t have any expectations of what I will find, and therefore I feel as though I am constantly putting myself on the spot when crafting my sculpture. To me, the challenge of turning unknown materials into a form of a completely different nature is the best and eventually most rewarding part of my art making.
